Keep talking about Saddlehill and attend the Council hearings
SADDLEHILL
The application for Saddlehill industrial wind turbine development has been lodged with both Angus Council and with Perth and Kinross Council. The period for public representations for both Angus Council and Perth and Kinross Council is now closed.
We will keep you informed regarding planning meetings etc. No date has formally been set for Angus Council to hear the application although it now looks likely that it will be towards the end of March.
The Saddlehill development is contrary to many Council policies.
Angus Council :
Policy ER5 – Conservation of Landscape Character
Policy ER34 – Renewable Energy Development
Policy ER35 – Wind Energy Development
TAYplan policy 6 (Local Development Plan)
Appropriate objections also include:
The adverse impact on the landscape
The cumulative effect of turbines in this area – Drumderg, Cottertown, Greenburn, Tullymurdoch, Welton of Creuchies, Saddlehill, Carrach, McCritch, Cormaud
The noise impact on the surrounding houses
The impact on tourist-related businesses in the area – almost 200 businesses affected (walkers, climbers, cross country skiers, cyclists, horse riders and birdwatchers)
The impact on the local community of heavy traffic for at least a year.
The impact on the environment, on established and rare wildlife: wild cats, ring ouzels, raptors, owls, black grouse, bats and wild flowers:
The impact on ancient historical sites – Saddlehill carries centuries of settlement information still to be examined
The destruction of valuable peatland and moorland
The impact on the water supply and destruction of natural water courses
Concerns about the health problems associated with the frequencies created by these turbines, human and animal health, and the increasing amount of evidence for negative effects

MACRITCH HILL WIND FARM - Backwater Reservoir
This application is been WITHDRAWN by the developers Eneco.
Angus Council, The Cairngorm National Park Authority, SNH and several other public bodies objected to the development and there was a strong and persistent call to Scottish Water to withdraw the application.
Finally it was withdrawn on the grounds of financial uncertainty. The letter of withdrawal from the developer's agents can be read HERE
