Our thanks were sent today to Angus Council planners for their damning report objecting to the Macritch windfarm objection and their guarantee that no matter what future mitigation measures are offered by Scottish Water/ENECO the Council's objection will not be lifted.
Planning boss Iain Mitchell has written to the Scottish Energy Consents Unit with a covering letter accompanying the detailed objection saying: "There are some reasons for objection that could, theoretically, be overcome by further technical assessment, however in respect of the landscape and visual reasons for objecting, Angus Council is of the view these points of objection cannot be overcome by mitigation or conditions." We trust Scottish Water/ENECO heed these words and withdraw the application. Councillor Ronnie Proctor who seconded the motion to accept the report urged Scottish water to rethink and withdraw the application.
Planners from Angus Council recommend that the Full Angus Council who meet tomorrow, Thursday 14th May at 10am, object to the development of 18 giant turbines at the scenic Backwater Reservoir.
