Unlike Saddlehill this application has been submitted directly to the Scottish Government. Whilst Angus Council are a consultee it is important that you make your objection directly to the Energy Consents Unit in Glasgow but you can also send a copy to Angus Council so they are able to see the strength of feeling. For details please read on...

Eneco have now submitted their application for the Macritch Hill Wind Farm. This is another serious threat to the area and requires our attention. The site is on land owned by Scottish Water and therefore this wind farm would go a considerable way to satisfying Scottish Water's renewable energy obligations. Unlike Saddlehill, Macritch will not be decided by the local authority - Angus Council. As the development is over 50MW the application is submitted to the Energy Consents Unit (ECU) which is a government department and they shall consider the application. Angus Council are consulted and should they object to the development then Ministers will call a Public Local Inquiry (PLI) and a Reporter will be appointed. The Scottish Government will process the application for Macritch Wind Farm under The Electricity Act 1989. During the consultation process letters of representation can be sent to Scottish Ministers in support of or objecting to this application. Should Ministers call a Public Local Inquiry (PLI), copies of these representations will be sent to the Reporter to consider during the inquiry. The number of objections received by the ECU will obviously have a significant effect on the outcome of their decision. Representations for the wind farm application should be made, no later than Friday 20th February 2015, by email to The Scottish Government, Energy Consents Unit mailbox at representations@scotland.gsi.gov.uk or by post to The Scottish Government, Energy Consents Unit, 4th Floor, 5 Atlantic Quay, 150 Broomielaw, Glasgow G2 8LU. Please reference Macritch Hill Wind Farm and specify the grounds for your representation. Eneco's Press Release can be viewed by clicking HERE The deadline for objections to Perth and Kinross Council is Friday 9th of January 5pm.
Please encourage any family members or friends to ensure that their comments reach the Council in time to be taken into consideration. Each adult member of a household can comment. (Angus Council are flexible re a deadline but if you are doing one, you might as well do both!) Now that the festivities are drawing to a close what better way to spend 5 minutes than to help preserve a very special landscape...?
Step 1 - pop the kettle on and make a cup of tea (coffee, hot chocolate, mulled wine, spiced port all acceptable!) Here is one as an example but it is strongly recommended that you make yours personal to you - "I have been visiting Glenisla since I was a child", "I live close by and I am concerned about the loss of residential amenity" "I am a keen bird watcher and I have grave concerns for the habitat of various protected species" |
